Email Marketing is not dying, it just needs some tlc!
We firmly agree with The IDM that email marketing is not dead, dying or even going remotely downhill!
Contrary to fashionable belief, email marketing is NOT dying. It's very much alive and getting great results for businesses who use it well. Sometimes even the best of us are guilty of forgetting to apply "advanced common sense" to our campaigns. Here are 5 memory-joggers.
It doesn't matter what, test something. Start with the basics - subject line, sender name, time of send... Even a single percentage increase in opens can make all the difference to your results.
2. Send more helpful messages
Organisations that use email as a helpful news channel are going to get better overall engagement than those that don't.
3. Understand your mobile audience
Mobiles and tablets will be the largest platform for receiving email over the coming years. Make sure you're optimised.
4. Get on a streak
Pick a metric (opens say?) and challenge yourself or the team to constantly increase the open rate with every send. Set yourself a goal and celebrate your best streak.
5. Benchmarking is not theft
Get into the habit of signing up to lots of other organisations' emails. If you see a good idea there's no reason why you can't look at how you try and do something similar for your own campaigns.
And while we're on the subject of benchmarks, make sure you check out our H1 cross industry email statistics and see how yours compare!
