The Client

Cole Schotz is a mid-size law firm serving clients throughout the U.S. with offices in New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Texas.  The firm represents hundreds of businesses, individuals and Fortune 500 companies.

Founded in 1928, the firm has grown to 120 attorneys who work in eight primary areas of practice:  litigation real estate, bankruptcy & corporate restructuring, tax, Trusts & estates, corporate, finance & business transactions, employment, environmental, and construction services.

The Challenge

Cole Schotz wished to promote their new Wilmington location in a way that was dynamic and engaging. Concep’s challenge was to develop a compelling animated piece that could be delivered to recipients via the Campaigner platform.

With the office furnishment still in progress, it was up to Concep to develop a visual style that would capture the spirit of the new space without having seen it.
A strong creative concept was developed and communicated among photographers, copywriters and music producers so that a coherent approach could be made.

The Solution

Concep used the firm’s tag line “You can get there from here – with Cole Schotz” as inspiration, working with a copywriter to develop a full script for the animated piece. A tight photographic brief ensured that images supplied would match the selected theme and represent Wilmington and the new office location in a sophisticated and stylish manner.

The selected images were sliced and re-animated in Adobe Flash, and combined with simple and clean text panels to tell the story of the new space. Music was custom created and synchronized with the visuals, tying the concept together.

Since Flash cannot be played in the inbox, Concep created an email template with a graphic banner that drew the recipient in, and gave them reason to click and see what was ‘behind the door’. The opening frames of the animation mimicked the banner, opening up to reveal the smooth flowing animation.

The Results

Concep’s Campaigner platform delivered the email and Flash animation to 2,500 people and generated a view rate of 40% — a great result for the Legal market, and even more so for an initial firm campaign. More importantly, the high number of repeat views and URL clicks suggested the email had been forwarded many times to recipients outside the initial list. The ROI for this project was that Cole Schotz clients were made aware of the office move and draw to the firm’s brand through the creation of an interactive marketing campaign.

In addition the internal response from partners to the Flash piece was overwhelmingly positive, and led to a long-term engagement between Cole Schotz and Concep.
